The Xtension Chords are a 12-member all-male a cappella group from the University of Illinois. Above musicality and choreography, the Xtension Chords aim to entertain any audience they see. Critics often describe them as "the oldest bunch of five year olds around," and "Talented. . . yet idiotic." Our advice to you is simple: enjoy!

Hey everybody! We want to thank every single one of you 900+ people who came out to XFest this year! It was a great success and I hope you all had as much fun in the audience as we did on stage. Ed appreciated the signs a few people made for him, but it is one anonymous XChord's opinion that we could've used more "Logan's the best!!" or "Logan melts my face with hotness LOLs!1!!" signs. Just passing that along...

We'd like to give a gigantic "thank you" to you the Accafellas, DMaC, Ladies First, and Mosaic Whispers for coming to the middle of Illinois and giving everyone such awesome performances.

Now we're getting ready for our annual fall high school tour in the Chicago suburbs during Thanksgiving break. Hope you'll be ready for us!

  Midyear Auditions! Sunday, November 2nd, 2008  
For those of you who want to try out for The Xtension Chords, now is your chance! We are holding mid year auditions on Tuesday, November 18th in the basement of the Music Building. To schedule a time, email Nick at nholwey2@gmail.com. We will also be having walk-ins but you might have to wait a bit. Please have a 30 second long portion of a song prepared (usually a verse and a chorus) and we'll take care of the rest!

 XFEST '08 Saturday, November 1st, 2008  
Hey everyone. It's already November, meaning that XFEST 2008 is right around the corner! Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 15 at 8pm. The show will be at beautiful Smith Memorial Hall once again. Tickets will be on sale via our website shortly, and we'll be on the quad selling tickets everyday the week before the show, November 10-14. Be prepared to hear some great a cappella because we're inviting some fantastic groups from schools in the region. Indiana University's Ladies first, Michigan State's Acafellas, Washington University's Mosaic Whispers, and DePaul's DMaC will be ready to rock your socks off. We're all excited to see you there!

 New Xtension Chords! Thursday, September 4th, 2008  
Hey Hey! Look what we have! Two new Xtension Chords! After three days of auditioning countless talented singers, we're excited to announce the new members for the 2008-2009 school year are Tom Brese & Ethan Fant! We'd like to genuinely thank every single person who came out to sing for us, providing us with such an amazingly deep talent pool to choose from! We're very lucky!

Our rehearsals have already begun and we'll be ready to sing for you all very soon. After having such a fantastic year last year we're pumped to be even better this year! Come back soon to check out our soon to be updated member profiles and the events page!

 AUDITIONS FOR THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR Friday, August 22nd, 2008  
Hello! Long time no read! It's great to be back on campus ready to sing across the country for a brand new school year. It appears that we're going to be short a few members so we'd like YOU to be in our group!

Here's how it works. Come out and look for us on Quad Day (Sunday, August 24) where we'll actually be singing at 4:15pm. While not performing, we'll be at our booth and have a sign-up sheet for auditions which will be held on Tuesday, August 26 and Wednesday, August 27. Callbacks will be on Thursday, August 28. If for some reason you can't make it to Quad Day to sign-up for an audition time please email Nick at nholwey2@gmail.com.

Your audition will include 30 seconds of a prepared piece of your choice and a few exercises we'll do with you. It'll be held in the basement of the Music Building in room 1172.

So to recap:

  • Find us on Quad Day to hear and meet us
  • Sign-up for an audition time
  • Be ready to sing 30 seconds to a minute of your song
  • Auditions are this Tuesday & Wednesday, the 26th & 27th in Rm. 1172 in the basement of the Music Building

 JOLIET SHOW ON MONDAY Friday, May 9th, 2008  
Hey everyone, as you all may know we are getting ready to kick off our high school tour. On Monday, May 12th we will start our day off here in Champaign, and then that evening we will sing our entire show of Acappellapalooza at Joliet West High School at 7pm. ONCE AGAIN. If you could not make it to Acappellapalooza this year and you are still kicking yourself for missing it, you can still see it at Joliet West High School on Monday, May 12th at 7pm.  Spring High School Tour Monday, April 28th, 2008  
Special thanks to all who attended Palooza this year! It was a blast singing for all of you in Foellinger and we can't wait to do it again next year!

As finals quickly approach, we are preparing for our annual spring high school tour! We will be in the suburbs from Monday, May 12th, until Friday, May 16nd. Be sure to check out our events page for a detailed list of the schools where we will be performing!
